Kelsi is a great friend of mine and a recent ACU graduate who recently traveled to Ethiopia as part of the “Light My World Workshop” with Ester Havens and Austin Mann. Their main focus is humanitarian photojournalism, to capture the society and humanitarian efforts of churches in third world countries. Here is a sample of some of the great photos she was able to capture durring her amazing journey. Take a look!

Tressie and Chad Zellner are two of the best portrait and lifestyle/wedding photographers I have ever seen! Best of all there are based right here in Abilene and are both ACU alumnus. I’ve had the privilege to be great friends with them and able to share their work.  I love their use of color, composition as well as great creative expressions and framing. They work great as a team and are ranked up there in the wedding world. Check em out.

David Teran: San Antonio Student Photographer

Here is kind of a local photographer from San Antonio who has a lot of great portrait stuff. (even of Edmund “Clyde” Gates) His style reminds me a lot of commercial / editorial portrait photography. Although, he does quite a few artistic portraits with his models. Great stuff.

The portraits and lifestyle shots of her work is very different from her editorial and commercial stuff. I greatly enjoy both works, but I definitely enjoyed her personal/artistic work more for some reason.

  2. Checking out this technique of shooting reflective services is insteresting to see how its actually done. Overall, it really is controlled with slim lights on either side just to get a small highlighted slit and then that fall off offered with the shape of the object to get deeper/darker/richer contrast. I greatly enjoyed and learned from this photo tutorial.

  3. I’ve become more interested in James Dimmock’s work the longer and more frequent I look at it. His collections of high fashion and musical artists as well as his commercial work are incredible examples of his mastery of the use of lighting and techniques. I really enjoy seeing his work with the amount of props, clothing, and environments. Along with the great expressions he gets out of his subjects. Great work.
