The Ag Missions Luncheon was held this year on Sept. 19 during ACU Summit. Dr. Nicodemus, Assistant Professor of Environmental Science, talked about current mission-oriented A&E projects such as the raised bed gardens, Navajo Reservation work with Healing Hands International and the Medina Children’s Home trip.

“This luncheon is a great opportunity for students and faculty to talk to people who are doing ag missions,” Dr. Nicodemus. “It’s a good time to collaborate and network.”

Dr. Ben Gray, a volunteer for Global Samaritan Resources spoke at the event. He is a trainer who assists people in setting up and operating the water purifiers. Global Samaritan trained 45 individuals in 2010, and 34 units were installed in Haiti.

Anna Ciufo, a freshman Animal Science major, is considering missionary work as a career goal and was impressed by the information shared at the luncheon.

“The speakers opened my eyes to all of the opportunities out there,” said Ciufo. “I am now interested in not only doing missionary work with livestock and animals in developing countries, but also with other aspects of the environment like water and crops.”
