Presentations

Presentations are effective tools for revealing findings, sharing ideas and proposing alternatives. Most of the presentations listed below are directly related to research projects I’ve been involved with during my time at ACU.

There are couple of criteria in the Tenure & Promotion Guidelines, including those added by the Department of Art & Design, related to presentations:

  • Papers presented at conferences
  • Workshops and presentations

PRESENTATION HIGHLIGHT – MODELING INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY

Dr. Monty Lynn, Dr. Kent Smith and I have presented findings from our Modeling Intentional Community research project on several occasions, but I’d like to highlight one presentation in particular. (For more information on the research project, follow this link.)  Our team was invited to present at the 2013 Christian Scholars’ Conference (CSC). The invitation was the result of a six-part class series we led at ACU’s 2012 Summit. (We did not plan to attend the CSC because of schedule conflicts, so we did not submit an abstract.) The content of our research delivered at Summit impressed and intrigued our colleagues and peers organizing the CSC, so the invitation was extended to share our work at the conference. Schedules changed on our end and Dr. Smith and I were able to attend the CSC and present our work and the resources we developed to another audience. This furthered the ultimate purpose of the research project, which was to provide exposure to the diversity of intentional communities and develop educational tools and resources for those interested intentional communities.

“MODELING INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY” (HIGHLIGHT ABOVE)
Presentation / Christian Scholars’ Conference // Lipscomb University / Nashville, Tn / June 2013

Description: Dr. Kent Smith (GST) and I presented our research on intentional communities at the Christian Scholars’ Conference (CSC) at David Lipscomb University. Our research team was invited to present at the CSC based on the findings we presented in a six-part class series the previous September at ACU’s Summit. We were joined by two other participants, who both live in intentional Christian communities. Dr. Smith and I gave a short presentation, which was followed by a panel discussion with all four participants.
