COBA Research Project for Dallas 2024 Olympic Committee

This summer students from the College of Business Administration will travel to London for a unique research project.  Led by Dr. Monty Lynn, Associate Dean and Professor of Management, students will research the economic impact of the London 2012 Olympic Games on neighborhoods and communities.  Their results of their research will be delivered to the Dallas 2024 Committee.

Dr. Lynn describes the project as a program evaluation of the pro-poor impact of the 2012 London Olympics.  Data in the evaluation would come from interviews with planners and other stakeholders plus available archival data. The report will consist of three phases:

  1. Planning:  The goals and plans for pro-poor economic development in London through the summer 2012 Olympics.
  2. Execution:  What worked and didn’t work according to plan, what was learned in the process, and what alternative views were voiced among stakeholders?
  3. Impact:  What metrics are in place to measure ongoing impact and what is that evidence suggesting one year later.
