Student speech cut short

A Nevada school cut the microphone when a valedictorian started speaking about God in graduation. This situation is on the edge of the free exercise, establishment and free speech frontier.

How does this case differ from Bethel v Fraser, the 1980s case where a student was punished for making sexual references in a speech? The American Civil Liberties Union represented the student making sexual references and supported the school censoring religious talk.
