We finished up Development Cycle 37 last week, which spans January 2nd through January 18th.  Here are some of the highlights for this cycle:

  • myACU Update – We pushed the myACU update into production the evening of Friday, January 11th.  This update represents months of gathering feedback, programming, and testing.  We have been working through a few residual issues since go-live and will continue to do that over the next few weeks.
  • Preparation for Spring 2013 – We completed numerous tasks that were related to the start of the Spring 2013 term and beyond, which included Banner updates and reporting requests.
  • Blogs Update – We anticipated a production update the week before classes started, but have postponed this until Spring Break so that we can resolve a few lingering issues.
  • OpenClass – Work continues as the campus prepares for the migration from Blackboard to Pearson’s OpenClass.  We are in the final phase of testing the work to automate the creation of new courses in OpenClass and anticipate enabling this functionality soon.
  • In all, 59 development issues were completed during this development cycle in addition to the on-going projects mentioned above.

See Dev Cycle 37 – Resolved Issues for a more in-depth summary.

We finished up Development Cycle 36 before Christmas, which spans December 3rd through December 21st.  Here are some of the highlights for this cycle:

  • Preparation for new year and Spring 2013 – We completed numerous tasks that were related to both the new year and the Spring 2013 term, which has included Banner updates for taxes and HR needs.
  • MyACU Refresh – We are finishing up final setup and testing of the new version with plans to go live on Thursday, January 10th (see related post for more information).
  • Blogs Update – We are testing the updated version of WordPress in our test environment, which includes insuring that all of our customizations and integration points work as expected. We were anticipating a production update later this week, but this may be postponed due to bugs found during user testing in the last few work weeks.
  • OpenClass – Work continues as the campus prepares for the migration from Blackboard to Pearson’s OpenClass.  We are finishing up work to automate the creation of new courses in OpenClass and anticipate enabling this functionality soon.
  • TouchNet – A lot of work was spent preparing us to move more of our shopping cart functionality from UltraCart to TouchNet.  The Enrollment Deposit functionality has been moved to TouchNet and all residual problems were resolved this last week.
  • In all, 24 development issues were completed during this development cycle in addition to the on-going projects mentioned above.

On January 10, 2013, the updated myACU will be available to Faculty, Staff and Students. This initial release is a streamlined version of the portal and is based on a number of conversations with various employee and student groups.

In the coming months, we intend to improve the features and the look of the portal based on feedback from groups like this and from the campus as a whole.

A special “Thank You” to all of you for your help in the design and features for the new version of myACU and to the team here in IT for getting the portal ready despite the number of issues they faced in doing so.
