Sigma Tau Delta: Tau Epsilon

Hannah Bowling is a senior English major with a passion for Shakespeare. Some of her fondest memories during her time at ACU include earning her TESOL certification, working as a TA for the ESL program, studying abroad in Oxford during the fall of 2017, and presenting her academic research at numerous conferences. After graduation, Hannah will attend Texas A&M, College Station, to pursue her graduate studies in English with the intention of becoming an English professor.

The spring induction will be on Monday, April 22nd, at 4 pm in Chapel on the Hill.

Friends, family, and professors are invited.

Dress is business casual.

Refreshments will be provided.

Sigma Tau Delta is 100 years old today.

ACU’s chapter Tau Epsilon has been part of Sigma Tau Delta for 68 years.

The Sigma Tau Delta Poetry Awards were held in the Brown Library Atrium on October 12 at 7:30 pm.

Print outs were made of the poems submitted to the contest between September 11 and October 2. These were laid out on three large tables so that everyone could read them. In addition, pens and post-it notes were on the tables so that people could write comments about the different poems. Many poems received comments.

Refreshments were provided and included cheese, hummus, salsa, chips, and cupcakes. Drinks were limeade, lemonade, watermelon juice, and water.

Multiple people read their poems, both submitted and unsubmitted, to the assembly.

Awards:
President Steven Yang and Secretary Tori Ford presented the awards.

The third place winner was David Elliott.

The second place winner was Samantha Colmenero.

First place winner was Brady Manning. Brady was not in attendance.

This poetry contest is brought to the ACU campus by Tau Epsilon, the ACU chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society.

Steven Yang is a junior who grew up in Chiang Rai, Thailand but was originally from Taiwan. He will graduate with a major in English and two minors: one in Political Science and one in Business Administration. He loves to learn different languages such as French and Thai and he loves to travel.

After his time at ACU, Steven would like to go to law school to study international law. One day, he would like to work at different US embassies.

Ivana Munoz is Vice President of Sigma Delta Pi, the Spanish honor society, a McNair Scholar, and next year will be an Assistant Director for reslife.

Ivana plans to pursue a doctoral degree in Public Affairs, and work for the privately funded, non-profit organization of AVID.

Ivana Munoz wants to thank her parents primarily for their support and love, and for all they have sacrificed to get her to where she is. She also wants to thank her sister for being her best friend and encouraging her in this chapter of her life. Lastly, although there are many individuals here at ACU that have contributed to her journey, she wants to especially thank Tina Fleet and Dana Mayhall for their love and guidance and for helping her grow as an individual.
