The Department of Language and Literature hosted Andrea Lucado (‘08), daughter of Max Lucado (‘77), this past April for a reading of her first book, English Lessons, and workshop events discussing The Joy of Freelancing.  One of Andrea’s workshops was held at the Brown Library, where she shared the benefits of doing what she loves and how what she has learned can be applied to other fields.

During her visit to ACU, Andrea and her parents visited the library’s Special Collections floor to view her father’s archives and to see the plans for a new exhibit case that was donated in her father’s honor by an anonymous benefactor.    It was Andrea’s first time to view the exhibit and tour the area where Max Lucado’s papers are stored.

Dr. Carisse Berryhill, Associate Dean for Archives and Collections, commented that “Andrea was delighted to see her dad’s papers, especially a letter from Max to his publisher about Max’s first book, On The Anvil. As they looked at it together, Andrea told her father, ‘You were asking the same questions that I have been asking!’ She snapped a photo of the letter with her phone. We hope that many other young writers will find inspiration in the Lucado collection.”
