The Provost, the ACU Library faculty and staff, and the University Library Committee share a concern about textbook affordability and its impact on student success, while recognizing that it is the prerogative of faculty to select textbooks that are high quality and most appropriate for a course. Through this one-time grant funding for courses offered in fall 2018, the Provost’s Office is supporting selected faculty to identify and utilize Open Access textbooks as a replacement for commercially published textbooks.  Competitive grants of $1,000 are available for full-time teaching faculty to support changes to the existing courses incorporating Open Access textbooks.

An informational workshop about the Alternative Textbook Initiative will be held on February 27, noon – 1 p.m. in the ACU Innovation Foundry, located on the third floor of the Brown Library.

The deadline to submit proposal is Friday, March 9, 2018 (11:59 p.m.) and notification of award will be by Thursday, March 15, 2018.

Further information about this grant and how to apply can be found on the ACU Innovation Foundry website: Alternative Textbook Initiative .
