Equipment

All of our tools and equipment are free to use to all registered Makers. Maker accounts are required for anyone wanting to use a tool. (Maker accounts can be created at the front desk.)

We require (and offer) safety training for the large power tools. If you need assistance with any equipment, please ask a Maker on Duty before attempting to use it. The tools that require reservations include links (below) to our online reservation system.

Epilog Laser:

  • 50W laser with 18″x24″ bed.
  • Cuts paper, mat/chip board, fabric, leather, cardboard, thin plywoods, and soft solid woods and acrylic sheet up to 1/2″ thick.
  • Etches all the above plus glass, soft metals, and marble–etching.
  • Can be reserved online for up to two hours. If more time is needed at once, contact the Maker on Duty.

Rostock Max 3D Printer

  • 8″d x 14″h cylindrical build area; prints from 150 (high) to 600 (low) micron resolution
  • Prints using ABS or PLA plastics
  • Can be reserved up for up to three hours online.  For longer prints, contact the Maker on Duty for scheduling.  Large or long prints should be scheduled within the last hour of the day and allowed to run overnight if possible.

FormLabs 1+ Resin 3D Printer (must schedule in person):

  • 4.5″x4.5″x5″ build area; prints from 25 (high) to 200 (low) micron resolution
  • Prints using UV-cured liquid resins
  • There is generally a fee associated with use of this printer; contact the Maker on duty for details and scheduling.

ShopBot CNC Router:

  • 4’x8′ bed (accommodates standard-size plywood sheets)
  • 1/4″ spiral router bits usually available for general use
  • Can be reserved online for up to two hours. If more time is needed at once, contact the Maker on Duty.

  • Forms plastics up to 1/4″ thick
  • Plastic sheet size : 15 1/4 ”  x  20 1/4 “
  • Forming area : 12 ” x 17 “
  • Max. depth of draw 7 inches depending on mold geometry
  • Works with all formable plastics which include : Styrene, Acrylic or Plexiglas, Pet-G, PVC, ABS, Polyethylene, and vinyl
