ACU on Facebook: Finding Sunday Inspiration

By on September 6, 2017 in Christianity, Student life with 0 Comments

On campus, we love to gather for fellowship in chapel. Social media allows us to join together in a different way.  We love engaging with our ACU family on Facebook, whether it’s keeping students and families up to date with ACU happenings or posting new and historic photos of our campus and its people. We especially love sharing scenery shots with our online students and alumni who may not often visit.

One of our favorite regular Facebook features is #SundayInspiration. Each week, we share a story, piece of scripture, or photo meant to inspire using this special hashtag.

For instance, earlier this month we shared an image of a lone monarch butterfly on some flowers, accompanied by the Hebrews 11:1 ~ “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, evidence of things not seen.”

Other times, we share an uplifting video. On July 30, we shared a 20-minute conversation between ACU bible instructor Randy Harris and minister Mike Cope. Harris led the two through a discussion about what happens when a preacher struggles with his own faith. Within the comments section of this post, a woman shared how the video impacted her. She recently lost her husband, and she found comfort in the message.

Sometimes we use #SundayInspiration to capture some of God’s beauty, found right here at ACU. On July 16, we posted a bold image of a single, smiling sunflower popping against a bright blue sky. On the image we shared a perfect verse, “The Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you.” ~ Numbers 6:25.

Another example of God’s handiwork appearing on our Facebook timeline is a photo of a stunning sunset over campus; we posted this colorful image along with an apt verse about moving through the day: “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” ~ Pslam 55:17

What we love about our weekly #SundayInspiration posts is the online fellowship it promotes. With every like, love, and share, our words and images are resonating with others. Many times, a post is filled with “Amen” comments on a bible verse that hit home. Others are sprinkled with anecdotes of how these words affected them.

One reply sums this up well. Zack B. write on our April 23, 2017, post about John 3:16,  “Beautiful verse! Beautiful campus! Much love & deep respect for ACU.”

We know that attending school while working, tending to your family’s needs, and keeping up with your other commitments can sometimes keeps you busy. We hope that these images, interviews, and scriptures will help you take a moment to reflect and focus.

These are just a few examples we’ve shared over the summer. If you are not already, please consider following along so you can find inspiration not just on Sundays, but every day. You can like us on Facebook. here.
