The Shinnery Review is a student-led art and literary magazine showcasing student work at Abilene Christian University. Now in its 18th year of publication, The Shinnery has been entered in statewide competitions and contests. Every year from mid-January to mid-February, we accept submissions of all kinds from all students, regardless of major or discipline. The magazine is designed by ACU students and published in late April at the Black Tulip event. We strongly encourage anyone interested to submit work to the magazine. For more information about submitting, visit our submissions page.
We also host an annual fall poetry reading, The Slithy Tove, and an annual Crash Course workshop during the fall semester where everyone is invited for an afternoon to learn about fiction, nonfiction, and poetry writing and photography. The Shinnery also meets in weekly Elevensies Chapel every Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Inkwell, located downstairs in Chambers Hall. We invite anyone interested to attend.
