Your Portfolio will include a section in which you lay out Formational Goals and continue to reflect on and revise them throughout your program. Your first installment will not be written until after you receive feedback related to the inventories and instruments you completed during GST Orientation. It is due by the end of the semester during which you receive that feedback. You are free to reflect and comment on these goals after posting them. They will inform the conversation with reviewers in your Junior Review.
Following the First Review, by about the beginning of the next academic year (August), take the time formally to reflect on and update your goals in writing—once for MACM and MAGS students, and twice for MDiv students.
Your Intentional Growth
The following instructions and prompts will guide you as you compose your Formational Goals. Please follow the prescribed structure and address all the items. [This is the same paper assigned in BIBM 602 GST Orientation]
- Define your long-range and short-range goals. Even though you may not be certain about some of your goals, you need at least a tentative goal to guide some decisions you need to make. Based on your best understanding at this point, describe your short-range and long-range goals in ministry.
- Most ministry positions have minimal standards. Some of the qualifications are academic; others reflect a person’s personality, giftedness, experience, and maturity. You need to learn the minimal requirements for your desired short-range and long-range goals. You can learn what they are by contacting ministries that employ persons in those roles. Describe below the normal requirements and qualifications for entry into the ministry positions you have designated in your short-range and long-range goals.
