Now we start looking at more contemporary photographers. Dan Winters is one of my favorite commercial/editorial photographers. I had a chance to meet him while attending a workshop in Hunt, TX a few years ago. Really a great guy, and an excellent eye for “light composition.” He is now based in Austin.

I love Dan Winter’s work! All of his photographs (especially his portraits of people) are so artistically crafted. They are well developed from the positioning of the subject, to lighting, and the incorporation of different background elements to achieve striking compositions. Even his photographs of places and things are a unique eye-catch. His work is such an inspiration, and I love that his photographs give a sense of feeling as well. Thank you so much for sharing this Nil!

Wow all of Dan’s photos are phenomenal! I love how he can portray/create a kind of personality within his pictures, even if the subject isn’t doing anything super extravagant or telling. The way he captures people’s eyes is breathtaking. I couldn’t stop staring at some of the photos because they’re so piercing and beautiful. Amazing work!

First of all is that my girl Sandra Bullock?!!! Dang, this a more soft and elegant side of her that i haven’t seen in a long time… Second man you were very lucky to meet this guy Dan,dude his work seems incredible.. I think he captured a different side of her that not to many people knew existed.

I love Winter’s work, so much! His simple portraits and beautifully contrasted lighting remind me of portrait paintings. He seems to really capture the essence and expressions of the people he is shooting.
