Social constructs define our society: Gender. Nationality. Age. Intellectuality. Beauty. Race. Our task as active participants in society is to determine the means by which we define our lives. One may identify as a white, American, homosexual male millennial. What does that truly signify without the social constructs that formulate that person? Nothing. Our task as Race Traitors is not only to question the social constructs that define racial class and appearance but also to dispute the majority of those constructs. As students pursuing an education in a world attempting to better itself, we have tasked ourselves with attempting to question social constructs, repurpose past articles, and present information from a journal of the past, entitled: Race Traitors.
The white race is a social construct created by the outcomes of history and the dominance that has been pushed upon others. The white race is not determined by the color of your skin. The white race will not provide you with money; there are many who are “white” and not wealthy. The white race consists of those who receive privileges that others may not have. The white race often goes to a private college. The white race often degrades people around it. The white race should be abolished.
What we are doing through our research and our modifications of these articles is rewriting information originally released from the years 1993-2005 to represent the ideas of intellectuals of all nationalities related to race and its social relevance. The views presented in these pieces are being updated and modified to provide new information that is more relevant to modern readers. Why should you care? Until we solve the societal issues revolving around the white race, there will always be oppression. We will not be presenting our information in the format of “anti-racist.” Doing so would concede that race exists outside of a social construct. Instead, we will attempt to present our information in the pattern of Abolitionists of the white race.
The white race is a construct that denies society growth and collaboration. The white race is a club. The white race provides membership to humans without knowing their hearts. The white race is controversial. The white race is seen with hate. The white race took things that are not theirs. The white race denies rights and liberties. The white race has closed its eyes to the tragedies of the world. The white race should be abolished.
The students of this class have selected 8 pieces from the hundreds published in the Race Traitors journal. A group of students elected to reproduce these articles while maintaining the original ideas presented in the journal. Within this website, we will provide the article as it was published originally. This project intertwines the thoughts of the students of this honors course with the thoughts of the original writers. We hope these pieces reach those who are interested in expanding their knowledge and understanding of the white race and allow our representation of the information from past journal pieces to shape the readers’ thoughts and understandings of historical ideas of racism.
