Dr. Nannette W. Glenn

Dr. Nannette W. Glenn has been named dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies at Abilene Christian University Online.

“Dr. Glenn brings a unique balance of academic training and university experience in traditional and online programs,” said Dr. Robert Rhodes, ACU provost. “She is fully supportive of the mission of ACU and will be a great addition to our academic leadership team. She is the right person at the right time for this important role.”

Glenn earned her Ph.D. in general special education and her Master of Education in multicultural special education from the University of Texas at Austin and also earned a Master of Science in education entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education/Wharton School.

Her career began as a classroom teacher in the Austin Independent School District, and Glenn worked as an educational specialist with the Austin-Travis County MHMR Center and later as program compliance monitor for the Texas Education Agency. She was the director of student teaching and placement at the University of Texas at Austin before serving as dean of general studies at Huston-Tillotson University. Glenn has additional experience as the director of testing and federal grant administrator at Paul Quinn College. Her most recent work in higher education was with Argosy University Dallas where she served in various administrative roles, including eight years as vice president of academic affairs and chief academic officer and for a short time as interim campus president.

Glenn has also worked as an educational consultant and the founder of Education That Matters, LLC.

“Dr. Glenn brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our work in service of students,” said Dr. Stephen Johnson, vice president and chief administrative officer for ACU Online. “I have come to appreciate the depth of her personal sense of God’s presence and calling in her life and work. I am confident she will bring this to bear in service of our students and our faculty.” Glenn will be replacing Dr. Joe L. Cope who will be concentrating on his role as associate vice president for academics for ACU Online.

“We are excited about the addition of Dr. Nannette Glenn to our ACU family and welcome her to the College of Graduate and Professional Studies,” Cope said. “With her extensive background in higher education and academic training, she will forge a special connection with our students and our faculty. We are looking forward to having her partner with us.”

Glenn’s selection was the result of a months-long search process chaired by Dr. Jennifer Butcher and Dr. James Morris, faculty members in the College of Graduate and Professional Studies. Glenn will begin at ACU in January 2021.
