{"id":4506,"date":"2017-02-02T13:54:47","date_gmt":"2017-02-02T19:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/adamscenter\/?p=4506"},"modified":"2017-02-02T13:54:47","modified_gmt":"2017-02-02T19:54:47","slug":"tools-to-make-scheduling-easy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/adams\/2017\/02\/02\/tools-to-make-scheduling-easy\/","title":{"rendered":"Tools to make scheduling easy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you constantly email with students for a time to meet for office hours or arrange time for a series of class presentations, please remember there might be a better way of scheduling.<br \/>\n<strong>Google Calendar<\/strong><br \/>\nIf both sides know a general time to meet, just create a Calendar invitation which can get the item on the calendars for both you and the other person, if he or she accepts it. \u00a0Even if the invitation is not accepted, there is a record on your calendar how many people \u00a0(and who) have accepted your invitation. You can also add a notification which will remind both yourself and the other person about the event before it starts.<br \/>\n<strong>Canvas Scheduler<\/strong><br \/>\nFor your classes, you can use the &#8220;scheduler&#8221; tool to create appointment slots. \u00a0Here is how:<br \/>\nGo to your course, find calendar for the course, click on &#8220;scheduler&#8221;, and then &#8220;create an appointment group&#8221;.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4507 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/adamscenter\/files\/2017\/02\/scheduler-300x169.png\" alt=\"Scheduler\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><br \/>\nYou will then see this page, where you can name your appointment group, select the date and the time range, and specify if you&#8217;d divide the time range into equal slots of, say, 10 minutes. Click on &#8220;go&#8221; and Canvas will automatically create a series of time slots for your appointments. Remember to &#8220;save and publish&#8221;.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4508 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/adamscenter\/files\/2017\/02\/Scheduler2.png\" alt=\"Scheduling page\" width=\"624\" height=\"568\" \/><br \/>\nNow, you can tell students to reserve appointments using the scheduler tool. \u00a0Ask them to go to your\u00a0course, find the course calendar from the course home page, \u00a0select &#8220;scheduler&#8221;, and then click on the name of the appointment group. \u00a0They will then be able to click on available slots\u00a0to make reservations.
