Coffee Hour
March 4, 2024 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Hosted by Amy McLaughlin-Sheasby
ACU is rapidly becoming a more religiously diverse community, with students coming to us from an assortment of denominational backgrounds. Historically, Churches of Christ have oscillated between an ecumenical impulse (that is, a willingness to partner with Christians across denominational lines) and a sectarian impulse (the tendency to see ourselves as wholly separate and even superior to other Christians). As educators, we have a responsibility to teach and equip all of our students. In this three-part series, we will discuss the dynamics of ecumenism on campus and dream about ways to cultivate a hospitable campus for our students. RSVP here or call 325-674-2455.

Claire’s book, Blessed Are the Women: Naming and Reclaiming Women's Stories from the Gospels, published in February of this year, shares stories of women from the Gospels in their own words, with their own names, interwoven with Claire’s personal story of growing up as a woman with a vision and a voice in a conservative, Southern Baptist, male-dominated world.

Spiritual Disciplines: Detachment
March 20, 2024 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Amy McLaughlin-Sheasby
In this series of Adams Center sessions, we have been exploring various spiritual disciplines and how they shape our lives in the way of Christ. Please join us for this session as we focus on the discipline of detachment. To what are we attached? How have our attachments usurped our dependence on God? What should we release from our lives, and how do we go about doing that? In this session we will explore these questions, as well as some practices that will help us grow more attuned to our dependence on God.
RSVP here or call 325-674-2455.
