Tips for Using Lockdown Browser Successfully<\/h1>\n

Here are a few best practices for reducing\u00a0Lockdown<\/span>\u00a0Browser<\/span>\u00a0related issues:<\/div>\n

  1. Do not panic.<\/strong>\u00a0 Your anxiety can be quickly picked up by students who would start to believe that the software does not work when some proactive actions described below could solve most of the problems. Typically students will encounter problems for their first exam, but the problems diminish for future ones once they have found out what problems they have.<\/li>\n
  2. Import a\u00a0tutorial module<\/strong>\u00a0in your course from Canvas Commons where we provided instructions for you and students.\u00a0 Check this video<\/a> if you need to find how to do it.<\/li>\n
  3. Set a sample quiz:<\/strong> Part of the module described above included a sample quiz with\u00a0Lockdown<\/span>\u00a0Browser<\/span>\u00a0enabled. Always include a sample quiz before you release the real one.\u00a0 You can even use it as a bonus item.\u00a0 From the gradebook, you can see which students have and have not taken the quiz.\u00a0 You can check with them to seek help when needed.<\/li>\n
  4. Enable iPad.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>When configuring a test in\u00a0Lockdown<\/span>\u00a0Browser<\/span>, make sure you turn on the feature to enable students to take it on the iPad from\u00a0Lockdown<\/span>Browser<\/span>‘s “advanced settings”.<\/li>\n
  5. Restart devices:<\/strong> Ask students to restart devices before an exam.<\/li>\n
  6. Students should also exit all programs <\/strong>other than Lockdown Browser before taking a major exam.<\/li>\n
  7. Ask them to update their devices and the Lockdown Browser app<\/strong> if they have not done so.<\/li>\n
  8. Check Wifi.<\/strong> Ask students to check their wifi connection before taking an exam.\u00a0 Computing Services recommends “ACU secure.”<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n
