As you\u2019re crafting your prompts and talking with students about their assignments, here are a few tips from our research librarians.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Make sure you\u2019re clear about what kinds of sources you require. For example,\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The phrase \u201cno web sources\u201d often makes the student believe that they cannot use a scholarly journal that\u2019s accessed electronically.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cCredible,\u201d \u201creliable,\u201d \u201cpeer-reviewed,\u201d and \u201cevidence-based\u201d can all mean different types of sources.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPrimary sources\u201d vary from discipline to discipline.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cRecent\u201d means different time periods depending on the topic.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Provide examples of what good research\/sources look like. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/guides.acu.edu\/?b=s\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The LibGuides<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> provide lots of helpful information organized by subject.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Put on reserve any sources that most of your class will be using so that students don\u2019t lose access to them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Require scaffolding assignments to encourage students to start on assignments early.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a final reminder the Adams Center, Writing Center, and Research Desk are happy to give feedback on your prompts.
