We are needing volunteers to help out on the day student competition entries come in. It is a fun way to meet other art majors, see all the work coming in and help out the department. It will even count as an art event credit!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day:<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #993300\">Monday, April 21<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/acu.edu\/spreadsheet\/ccc?key=0AjiDpJc3_eDRdFptUFFGSTJfdF9MSjIwZWlYNXFBOFE&amp;usp=sharing\">Click here<\/a> to sign up for one or more time slots!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>The Woodlands Community Impact Newspaper<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We are looking for a graphic designer that is passionate about creating high quality, accurate and creative artwork. If you are able to engage our clients with high-impact designs, we have an opportunity that you do not want to miss. This position is responsible for the design and layout of a variety of creative materials, including the Katy newspaper, advertisements, direct mail and marketing pieces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Associate\u2019s or Bachelor\u2019s degree in graphic design or related coursework<\/li>\n<li>At least one (1) year of prior experience in graphic design<\/li>\n<li>Experience using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro<\/li>\n<li>Experience with file preparation for CMYK output<\/li>\n<li>Ability to pass the Company\u2019s graphic design test<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Job Functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Layout newspaper using Adobe InDesign while following company\u2019s design guidelines<\/li>\n<li>Read and analyze editorial articles in order to generate original design ideas for\u00a0info-graphics\u00a0that will supplement editorial stories<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with reporters and editors to gain further insight and understanding of stories<\/li>\n<li>Create accurate graphics, charts and maps that visually support and supplement editorial stories<\/li>\n<li>Meet editorial deadlines for daily production, proofing and final output<\/li>\n<li>Ability to analyze and interpret news and create graphics that visually communicate information<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and save editorial graphics, photos and text for upload to web, in time to meet the web department\u2019s deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with Account Executives and Account Coordinators to produce effective advertisements that meet the needs of clients<\/li>\n<li>Present necessary ad proofs to sales team on time, ensuring that client has adequate time for review and approval<\/li>\n<li>Meet the minimum number of monthly ads produced (ad quota), as set by the Ad Production Manager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain an awareness of current design trends and a working knowledge of the latest industry software<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all advertisements and graphics are properly prepared for 4-color press output Maintain a professional appearance<\/li>\n<li>Comply with other job-related instructions and perform any other duties that, in the opinion of the Market Editor, General Manager or any other supervisor(s), are reasonably related to his\/her primary job responsibilities, required to assist other employees, or complement Community Impact Newspaper&#8217;s efforts generally<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Submit resumes to Jackie Brunk at\u00a0<span style=\"color: #993300\">jbrunk@impactnews.com<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Art &amp; Design Students Imagine the fun you will have on monday hanging out with other students in the gallery!
