Links have been added that provide evidence of this of meeting the criteria. Many of the links will go to the same pages.<\/p>\n<h1>University Requirements<\/h1>\n<h2>General Criteria<\/h2>\n<p>A faculty member\u2019s service is directly related to the university\u2019s mission statement.\u00a0Service should grow out of his or her academic and professional commitments, as well\u00a0as out of a generous understanding of Christian discipleship. Service may extend to the\u00a0profession,<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"> <a title=\"Service to the University\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/universityservice\/\" target=\"_blank\">the university<\/a><\/span> or its <a title=\"Service to the Department\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/departmental-service\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">constituent parts<\/span><\/a>, <a title=\"Service to the Church\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/church\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">the church<\/span><\/a>, and\/or the community.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of service in any of these areas include, but are not limited to, the following\u00a0items:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advisory and consultative positions<\/li>\n<li>Holding an office or chair<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a title=\"University Committee Descriptions\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/university-committee-descriptions\/\" target=\"_blank\">Committee memberships and work<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a title=\"Service to the University\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/universityservice\/\" target=\"_blank\">Administrative responsibilities<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Service to the University\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/universityservice\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Student organization sponsorships<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Service awards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Specific Criteria for Promotion to Professor<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>In addition to church involvement, the faculty member should demonstrate\u00a0that he or she is recognized as contributing sustained service to the\u00a0profession, <a title=\"Service to the University\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/universityservice\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">the university<\/span><\/a>, <a title=\"Service to the Church\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/church\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">the church<\/span><\/a>, and\/or the community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Departmental Expansion on the Criteria for Tenure and Promotion<\/h2>\n<p>Recognition should be given to scholars who serve as <a title=\"Service to the University\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/universityservice\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">administrators<\/span><\/a> and who participate in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a title=\"Service to the University\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/universityservice\/\" target=\"_blank\">faculty government<\/a><\/span> and formulation of <a title=\"Service to the Department\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/departmental-service\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">departmental<\/span><\/a> and university policies. Service by members of the faculty to the community and to professional societies should also be considered as a basis for tenure and\/or promotion. The work done in this capacity should also be of high quality. Similarly, contributions to student welfare through service on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a title=\"Service to the University\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/universityservice\/\" target=\"_blank\">student committees<\/a><\/span> and as <a title=\"Service to the University\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/autumnsutherlin\/universityservice\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">adviser to student organizations<\/span><\/a> should be recognized as evidence.
