As I have taken on the role of Director of Undergraduate Research, I have had a greater opportunity to work with faculty from across campus. I have tried to provide opportunities to support other faculty. This includes creating training sessions in the Adams Center and establishing an award for faculty mentors. I coordinated training sessions on mentoring undergraduate research students and applying for internal grants. I co-lead presentations introducing new faculty to research at ACU and explaining how best to apply for internal grants.<\/p>\n
In addition to the previously mentioned undergraduate research related presentations, I also gave two presentations on using clickers in the classroom<\/a><\/span>. One of these was co-lead with Dr. Paul Lakey.<\/p>\n I have also tried to attend other Adams Center presentations to learn what my colleagues are doing, to get to know other faculty members and to further develop as a faculty member. The Adams Center has provided lists of the sessions<\/span><\/a> that faculty attended the last two school years.<\/p>\n I was fortunate to be able to attend one of the Digital Academies hosted by the Learning Studio. That weekend I was able to interact with people from a number of departments and learn about photography from the incomparable Nil Santana. Some of our photos from this workshop are displayed on the Digital Academy blog<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n I was asked to be a Spotlight Speaker for Cornerstone Fall 2011<\/a><\/span> and 2012<\/span><\/a>. I was at Study Abroad Fall 2013. While this could also fall under the area of teaching, I believe it demonstrates the willingness to help with campus wide projects.<\/p>\n I believe the fact that I am asked to serve on many\u00a0committees<\/a><\/span>\u00a0attests to my ability to be collegial.\u00a0One of the things that I really enjoy about being on committees is getting to work with people from across campus. I believe that Service and Collegiality are very closely tied together. I feel most of my formal ways of being collegial are also tied in with my service to the department and university.<\/p>\n Support from Colleagues<\/strong><\/p>\n Occasional notes<\/span><\/a> from colleagues provide encouragement to me as I carry out my work at the university. I believe these notes show my desire and ability to be a team player.
