I need a resume. Where do I start?
There are several tools you can use to build your resumé. First, you can view samples and build your resumé using one of the templates provided for free in Optimal Résumé. Also, you can samples of resumés and tips on creating your document on our Career Center Guide.
What is Handshake?
Handshake is the hub for all job and internship postings, on-campus interview schedules and career-related events. As a current student of Abilene Christian University, you have been pre-registered for this service at no cost to you. If you have not already accessed the new system, follow the instructions at this link to access your account.
What is a cover letter and is it required?
A cover letter should always accompany your résumé. The purpose of a cover letter is to introduce you and your résumé to potential employers. You can find samples and tools to create your cover letter in our Career Center Guide.
How do I look for jobs or internships?
To start, search for jobs or internships in your Handshake account. You can also search for jobs or internships using LinkedIn. For further tips visit the internships and job search strategies section (p. 26-27) of our Career Center Guide.
How do I prepare for a career fair?

First and foremost, dress for success! If you want to be taken seriously, then dress to be taken seriously. Even if the employer approves of casual dress, you can’t go wrong with a professional outfit.

It is important that you put your best foot forward and make a professional first impression. Be confident and communicate clearly. Bring copies of your résumé printed on professional résumé paper to distribute to potential employers when asked.

How do I choose a career?

How do I find an on-campus job?
For a job on campus, visit the HR Student Employment site to view all current student employment opportunities.
How do I make an appointment?
Visit the home page of our website and schedule an appointment. 
How do I get an "unofficial" transcript?
To save your unofficial transcript as a pdf,  follow these steps:

●      Log in to myACU and select Banner
●      Select Student Financial Aid
●      Select Student Records
●      Select Academic Transcript.
●      Select Submit
●      On the top of the page select File, then Select Print
●      On the bottom left select PDF
●      Then select “Save as PDF”
