{"id":2143,"date":"2020-11-27T23:33:14","date_gmt":"2020-11-28T05:33:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/coatesn\/?p=2143"},"modified":"2020-11-28T17:21:22","modified_gmt":"2020-11-28T23:21:22","slug":"2143","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/coatesn\/2020\/11\/27\/2143\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The main scientist behind Iran\u2019s nuclear program has been killed.\u00a0 That is the story.\u00a0 Behind that important fact, Politico and AP need to revisit how they label Mohsen Fakhrizadeh\u2019s position and thus diminish his threat.\u00a0 Here\u2019s what they said in the story\u2019s first sentence\u2014\u201cAn Iranian scientist named by the West as the leader of the Islamic Republic\u2019s disbanded military nuclear program was killed Friday in an ambush on the outskirts of Tehran, authorities said.\u201d\u00a0 Disbanded program?\u00a0 And thus he\u2019s not a threat to Israel\/world?\u00a0 Neither are true. \u00a0But if they are true, why don\u2019t Politico and AP go after Israel (if they indeed did it) for killing a harmless person?\u00a0 They don\u2019t.\u00a0 See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/11\/27\/iran-scientist-military-nuclear-program-killed-440812\">\u201cIran scientist linked to military nuclear program killed,\u201d<\/a> Politico, AP, November 27, 2020.\u00a0Politico and AP also call \u201cHossein Dehghan, an adviser to Iran\u2019s supreme leader and a presidential candidate in Iran\u2019s 2021 election\u201d but Dehghan has not yet formally declared to the best of my knowledge, he is just considering.\u00a0 Finally, and I suppose this is the third example of \u201cfake news\u201d, certainly suspect, from this one story, it says \u201cMeanwhile, an advanced centrifuge assembly plant at Iran\u2019s Natanz nuclear facility exploded in July in what Tehran now calls a sabotage attack.\u201d\u00a0 A link is offered to an AP story about the attack, but that link does not say that Iran has publicly declared the July event sabotage\u2014instead, Iran\u2019s public position is that they don\u2019t know what happened, they don\u2019t have evidence of why the event occurred.\u00a0 Politico and AP need to be careful with their statements, they may create a reality that is not reality.\u00a0 Here is instead a much better Sky news article about the killing of the Father of Iran\u2019s nuclear program\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rY9sdQIE95o\">\u201cBREAKING: Senior Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh assassinated,\u201d<\/a> Sky News, November 27, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Quote of the Day:\u00a0 IRGC chief Hossein Salami tweeted, \u201cAssassinating nuclear scientists is the most violent confrontation to prevent us from reaching modern science.\u201d\u00a0 See <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/mohsen-fakhrizadeh-senior-iranian-nuclear-scientist-assassinated-12144120\">\u201cMohsen Fakhrizadeh: Senior Iranian nuclear scientist assassinated,\u201d<\/a> Lucia Binding, Sky News, November 27, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a list from Reuters of the deceased scientists helping Iran attain to &#8220;modern science.&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uk.reuters.com\/article\/uk-iran-nuclear-scientist-attacks-factbo\/factbox-attacks-on-scientists-in-iran-idUKKBN28720E\">\u201cFactbox: Attacks on scientists in Iran,\u201d<\/a> Reuters Staff, November 27, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/11\/27\/world\/europe\/iran-dissidents-bomb-assadi-belgium.html\">\u201cIranian Diplomat Accused of Plotting to Bomb Dissidents Goes on Trial in Belgium,\u201d<\/a> Steven Erlanger, New York Times, November 27, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>I had not read this article from Tehran Times yesterday, but did so today\u2014Iran is threatening to kill Pres. Donald Trump now and after he leaves office.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tehrantimes.com\/news\/455144\/Judiciary-tracking-down-culprits-involved-in-Gen-Soleimani-assassination\">\u201cJudiciary tracking down culprits involved in Gen.
