We’ll Be Under The Big Tent!!

by   |  09.29.16  |  Uncategorized

The ACU Homecoming Parade begins at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 22.  The Communication Sciences and Disorders Department will have a tent set up across the street from the Women of ACU Museum on the corner of E.N. 16th and Campus Court.  Alumni of the department are invited to come by to say hello to faculty and staff, grab a cookie & water bottle, and get a little surprise!  We’d like to see all your kiddos, too, and while they’re at the tent they can take a picture with Mr. Mouth and get a goodie for the parade!  We will also have order forms to purchase ACU Speech-Language Pathology fleece pullovers at the tent. They’re the rave in the department!

Send out the word and let’s see who shows up!!

Lunch with Cortney Baker, Owner of KidsCare

by   |  03.01.16  |  Uncategorized

Cortney Baker

Dr. Cortney Baker, owner of KidsCare Therapy, enjoyed lunch with students of the CSD Department while on campus for TEDxACU. Talking initially about her experiences after graduate school, she then shared about her decision to take a risk and to start a pediatric home health company. Dr. Baker candidly spoke about the many successes but also the difficulties that occurred during the process. Students were able to question Dr. Baker about her own experiences as well as her recommendations for them and their future paths.

KidsCare Therapy provides pediatric home health care services to children with special needs in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Waco, Tyler, and the outlying metropolitan areas (kidscaretherapy.com).  Children can receive services from physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, with several of those SLPs being ACU alumni!

Thank you, Dr. Baker, for the encouragement you provided to the ACU speech pathology students!
