In the various disciplines in the humanities, thinkers analyze “texts” of all kinds in their quest to understand the express the complexities of human experience. \u00a0These texts include novels, essays, and histories, but they also include, to name a few, films and songs and paintings. \u00a0Even if you aren’t a trained philosopher or literary critic, you have surely encountered “texts” that you feel best capture the human condition.<\/p>\n

What are they? \u00a0Which books, movies, songs, or other works of art do you think accurately and powerfully describe the stuff of human experience: love, death, suffering, joy, etc? \u00a0Use a mobile app like “Picstitch” to create a collage of images that refer the “texts” you’ve found most meaningful. \u00a0Then, share the collage with your friends. \u00a0Can they identify the books, artists, or films that you included? \u00a0Do they have some of the same “texts” in their collages? \u00a0Be prepared to explain why you included a certain “text” in your own collage!<\/p>\n
