In 2002, Helen Edmundson’s play Mother Teresa is Dead opened at the Royal Court Theatre in London. Since the 1980s, the Royal Court has been home to some of Britain’s most original playwrights, staging challenging and socially engaged work (About the Royal Court).
For its US debut in 2007, the play opened with the City Theatre Company in Pittsburg. For that production, artistic director Tracy Bridgden put together the following interview with the playwright.
