Steven Deitz’s Private Eyes was first performed in March 1996 by the Arizona Theatre Company. This review by Margaret Regan first ran in the the Tuscon Weekly in May 1996.One of the most interesting aspects of the play is the way Dietz introduces new information, new evidence, that changes the way the viewer engages with the scene. When you attend the performance, make a mental note of your own reactions to these moments.
- What new information did you get?
- Why did that change your mind or opinion about what was really happening?
- What more information would you want in order to help you figure out what is going on?
- Was that extra information ever supplied?
- How did having it make you feel? Were you satisfied?
