CBS enjoys a rich legacy of scholarship dedicated to the study of ancient texts, especially the Bible, but also the many streams of tradition shaping the historic communities that produced and interpreted scripture. These include such areas of study as the cultures of the ancient Near East and classical antiquity, New Testament textual criticism, Patristics, the literature of Christian spirituality, and early Christian-Muslim interactions.<\/p>\n<p>Ancient languages, manuscript studies, close textual analysis, and the practice of careful historical inquiry have long been hallmarks of the research and learning done in CBS. These activities have yielded distinguished contributions to scholarship.
