Brandy Rains is 2014 art education graduate from Fort Worth, Texas who aspires to become an odd but respectable high school art teacher. While also an English minor and piloting poet, Brandy has exhibited a senior art show including poems alongside her artwork. During her time at ACU, Brandy led a student organization called Wishing Well to bring water crisis relief to developing countries. In addition, she was head chair of Justice Week, a weeklong conference dedicated to educating the student body on social injustice, for three years. After graduation, she will continue her education and receive her Masters in Teaching and Learning from ACU.

Dr. Chris Willerton, professor of English, is retiring this year after more than 40 years at ACU. Willerton taught creative writing, British literature, and freshman composition. He helped create the Honors College and was its first dean.

Family, friends, former students, and colleagues attended the retirement celebration on April 25.

Willerton’s contributions to ACU, particularly to the Honors College and the English department, were detailed by Dr. Dave Merrell, Dr. Bill Walton, and Dr. Nancy Jordan. Meagan May, a former student both in English and the Honors College, talked about Dr. Willerton as a professor.

The Department of Language and Literature presented Dr. Willerton with a pristine first edition of his favorite book by Dorothy L. Sayer, The Poetry of Search and the Poetry of Statement.

April 29, 2014 Sigma Tau Delta’s ACU chapter, Tau Epsilon, had their spring ice cream social at Dr. Suanna H. Davis’ home. Present and future officers, as well as new and senior members, attended.

There were lots of toppings.

But Dr. Davis was having so much fun that she forgot to take pictures of the people who came, until the final attendees:
