{"id":648,"date":"2020-12-03T13:10:04","date_gmt":"2020-12-03T19:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/graduatecouncil\/?p=648"},"modified":"2020-12-08T11:28:13","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T17:28:13","slug":"12-8-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/graduatecouncil\/2020\/12\/03\/12-8-20\/","title":{"rendered":"12.8.20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have several information items to present to council from GST.<br \/>\nPlease review the proposals below and use the comment section for any discussion.<br \/>\nThank you for your work on the council this year!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Information Items<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master of Arts in Global Studies\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/graduatecouncil\/files\/2020\/12\/MAGS-Change-BIBMBMIS-Elective-to-Free-Elective.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Change the requirement of BIBM\/BMIS Elective to a Free Elective (3 hrs).<\/a> Rationale: The BIBM\/BMIS elective requirement is too restrictive for diverse ministry needs and interests.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/graduatecouncil\/files\/2020\/12\/MAGS-Change-BIBM-651652653-to-648-or-621.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Change the requirement of BIBM 651, 652, and 656 (1 credit hour each) to an option of either BIBM 648 of BIBM 621 (3 credit hours).<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/graduatecouncil\/files\/2020\/12\/MAGS-Change-BIBL-680-to-menu.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Change the requirement of BIBL 680 to a menu where a student will choose from BIBL 610, 611, 620, and 621.<\/a> Rationale: BIBL 680 is no longer taught with appropriate frequency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Master of Arts in Christian Ministry\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/graduatecouncil\/files\/2020\/12\/MACM-Change-BIBL-630-and-682-to-BIBL-electives.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Change both of the required courses BIBL 630 and 682 to a BIBL text elective (BIBL 600-699 or BGRK\/BHEB).<\/a> Rationale: Give more flexibility for advising and better reflect current practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Master of Arts in Theological Studies\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/graduatecouncil\/files\/2020\/12\/MATS-Add-BIBM-602.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Add BIBM 602 &#8211; GST Orientation (0 credit hours) to the degree plan.<\/a> Rationale: Each of our other master&#8217;s programs has an orientation course, and we simply overlooked this when setting up the program.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/graduatecouncil\/files\/2020\/12\/BIBM-602-Spring-2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BIBM 602 Syllabus<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Doctor of Ministry\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/graduatecouncil\/files\/2020\/12\/DMIN-Remove-Spiritual-Retreat-Requirement.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Remove the requirement for two spiritual formation retreats.<\/a> Rationale: Student feedback has shown mixed levels of effectiveness. The DMin student body now included increasing numbers of international students with limited residency requirements in the US and the COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated moving residencies online. DMin retreats have always been zero credit, so this change will not impact total hours in the degree plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have several information items to present to council from GST.
