{"id":1707,"date":"2013-02-11T11:42:06","date_gmt":"2013-02-11T17:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/hr\/?p=1707"},"modified":"2013-02-11T11:42:06","modified_gmt":"2013-02-11T17:42:06","slug":"acu-feral-cat-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/hr\/2013\/02\/11\/acu-feral-cat-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"ACU Feral Cat Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Facilities &amp; Campus Management is establishing\u00a0the Abilene Christian University\u00a0Feral Cat Initiative.\u00a0 The initiative&#8217;s\u00a0mission is to raise awareness about the feral and stray cats living outdoors throughout our campus; to offer solutions to prevent the number of homeless cats from increasing, and to successfully manage the existing colonies.<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0Our goal is to humanely reduce the number of community cats on the ACU campus, and to improve the plight of those cats currently living outdoors through the humane, non-lethal method of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the only humane and proven-effective method to control, and eventually reduce the stray and feral cat population.TNR is the method of trapping feral cats; having them sprayed\/neutered &amp; vaccinated against rabies, and then returning them to their colony to live out the rest of their lives.
