{"id":2427,"date":"2013-08-30T11:25:36","date_gmt":"2013-08-30T16:25:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/hr\/?p=2427"},"modified":"2013-08-30T11:27:47","modified_gmt":"2013-08-30T16:27:47","slug":"ghs-is-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/hr\/2013\/08\/30\/ghs-is-coming\/","title":{"rendered":"GHS is Coming!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div><strong>Be on the look-out for a brief Hazardous Communication training video from The Office of Risk Management to all employees in September that will satisfy\u00a0new required Global Harmonization System (GHS) training.\u00a0 It must be completed by the\u00a0December 1\u00a0Federal Government mandate.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>OSHA\u2019s Hazard Communication Standard has been aligned with the United Nations\u2019 Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).\u00a0GHS was developed by the United Nations as a way to bring into agreement the chemical regulations and standards of different countries. In short, it is an international attempt to get all countries on the same page.\u00a0The Federal Government has incorporated GHS into the Hazardous Communication standard and has mandated that initial training on GHS be completed by\u00a0December 1, 2013.\u00a0This training will go over, among other things, the replacement of the traditional Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) with new Safety Data Sheets (SDS), that read a bit differently.
