{"id":428,"date":"2013-10-28T09:55:26","date_gmt":"2013-10-28T14:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/hr\/?p=428"},"modified":"2013-10-28T11:27:00","modified_gmt":"2013-10-28T16:27:00","slug":"athletics-occasional-meal-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/hr\/2013\/10\/28\/athletics-occasional-meal-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Athletics Occasional Meal Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A reminder that ACU Athletics is bound by NCAA and Southland Conference (SLC) compliance rules with regards to providing meals and other extra benefits to student-athletes.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>It is permissible for a student-athlete or the entire team in a sport to receive an\u00a0occasional meal on infrequent and special occasions from an<b> institutional staff\u00a0member or from a representative of athletics interest<\/b> (e.g., booster or donor). \u00a0An institutional staff member or representative of athletics interest may host a meal<b> at his\/her home or may have a meal catered to their home<\/b>. \u00a0Reasonable local\u00a0transportation to student-athletes to attend such meals is permissible. However, all occasional\u00a0meals must take place within 30 miles of campus. \u00a0Occasional meal legislation\u00a0also applies to group functions such as meals hosted by organizations such as the\u00a0Fellowship of Christian Athletes or local church groups.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Student-athletes are limited to the number of occasional meals they may\u00a0receive during the academic year. \u00a0Receipt of excessive occasional meals will\u00a0result in a violation of extra benefit legislation. \u00a0All occasional meals must be approved by a member of the compliance staff prior to\u00a0the occasional meal occurring. \u00a0Approval must come in writing using the Occasional\u00a0Meals Form.<\/div>\n<div><strong>See link<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #1155cc\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/2009\/7\/18\/Current_Athlete_Info.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/2009\/7\/18\/Current_Athlete_Info.aspx<\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/div>\n<div>If you have trouble accessing this form, please contact the compliance office and we will ensure you receive the form.\u00a0The form must be completed by the staff member\/representative of athletics interest providing\u00a0the meal and submitted in advance to the ACU compliance office.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><b>NOTE: Benefits Available to Other Students \u2013<\/b> The receipt of a\u00a0benefit by a student-athlete or his or her team that is not authorized by NCAA\u00a0legislation is not a violation if it is demonstrated that the same general benefit is available\u00a0to the institution\u2019s students, their relatives, and friends determined on a basis unrelated to\u00a0athletics ability.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We appreciate your support of our student-athletes, but please help us keep them safe and eligible.\u00a0If you have any questions regarding this or any other NCAA regulation, click on the compliance tab at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.acusports.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.acusports.com<\/a>.\u00a0 Always Ask Before You Act!!!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A reminder that ACU Athletics is bound by NCAA and Southland Conference (SLC) compliance rules with regards to providing meals and other extra benefits to student-athletes.
