{"id":4502,"date":"2015-10-21T16:47:10","date_gmt":"2015-10-21T21:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/hr\/?p=4502"},"modified":"2015-10-21T16:47:10","modified_gmt":"2015-10-21T21:47:10","slug":"texas-supreme-court-coming-to-acu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/hr\/2015\/10\/21\/texas-supreme-court-coming-to-acu\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Supreme Court Coming to ACU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ACU students and the public are invited to see the Texas Supreme Court in action on <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">November 13<\/span><\/span> in the Hunter Welcome Center.\u00a0 This is the first time for the court to come to Abilene.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to hearing two appeals beginning at <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">9 a.m.<\/span><\/span> that <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday<\/span><\/span>, the trip is part of a court educational program and will also highlight the Jack Pope Fellows program and the pre-law program at ACU.<\/p>\n<p>For persons wanting to attend the oral arguments, security procedures require arrival by <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">8:30 a.m.<\/span><\/span> for the first case and <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">9:15 a.m.<\/span><\/span> for the second.\u00a0 No backpacks will be allowed in the courtroom\u2014please do not bring them to the building.\u00a0 Also, be aware that wanding will be used for security.<\/p>\n<p>The court will also meet with selected classes <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday<\/span><\/span> afternoon.\u00a0 Contact Dr. Neal Coates in the Department of Political Science for more information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ACU students and the public are invited to see the Texas Supreme Court in action on November 13 in the Hunter Welcome Center.\u00a0 This is the first time for the court to come to Abilene.
