Catching iPhone Fever<\/em>\u00a0article to the MAA Focus. \u00a0To be honest, I&#8217;m not sure I expected it to be accepted since it was the first article of that type I had ever endeavored to write. \u00a0To my surprise, the article was well received by the editors and published in August, merely a month after being received. \u00a0The response to the article was overwhelming. \u00a0The MAA Focus is an internationally circulated production of the Mathematical Association of America and has a wide readership. \u00a0It contains information about MAA activities news about mathematics and the mathematical community, and lively articles about interesting new (or sometimes not so new) ideas in mathematics, mathematics education and related areas that have the potential to transform the field. \u00a0The article led to more opportunities beginning with an ICTCM conference presentation invite and spurred me to apply for a Mobile Learning Fellowship the following year.<\/p>\n<p>Despite my work with the Mobile Learning Initiative, I felt I wanted to return to work prompted by my dissertation and experiences in teaching differential equations (my field) in my first two years. \u00a0This led first to the article,\u00a0<em>Positive solutions of a second order, three point boundary value problem via functional compression-expansion<\/em>\u00a0published in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.u-szeged.hu\/ejqtde\/\">Electronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations<\/a> (EJQTDE). \u00a0For people in my field this is a top journal with an exceptional group of editors. \u00a0The journal has an impact rating of 0.471 and is an international publication. \u00a0In addition, I was able to publish in the Texas College Mathematics Journal about a topic that I thought deserved attention among small school differential equations&#8217; teachers, namely, <em>The Integration of Complex Numbers in Undergraduate Ordinary Differential Equations. \u00a0<\/em>The <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/files\/2012\/06\/TCMJemail.pdf\">editor was very complimentary of the article,<\/a> and I have received numerous subsequent correspondences from readers.<\/p>\n<p>_________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/files\/2012\/06\/Ehrke_tenure.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-593\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/files\/2012\/06\/henderson_tenure.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"748\" height=\"926\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/files\/2012\/06\/henderson_tenure.jpg 748w, https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/files\/2012\/06\/henderson_tenure-121x150.jpg 121w, https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/files\/2012\/06\/henderson_tenure-242x300.jpg 242w, https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/files\/2012\/06\/henderson_tenure-395x490.jpg 395w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 748px) 100vw, 748px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><a title=\"Presentations\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/scholarship\/presentations\/\">&lt;&lt;&lt; Presentations <\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <a title=\"Appendix:  Scholarship\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/scholarship\/appendix-scholarship\/\">Appendix: Scholarship<\/a><a title=\"Scholarship of Application\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/scholarship\/scholarship-of-application\/\"> &gt;&gt;&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Publications at ACU 2007-2012 Henderson, Johnny, Ehrke, John, and Kunkel, C.\u00a0Five-point boundary value problems for nth order differential equations by solution matching,\u00a0 Involve: \u00a0A Journal of Mathematics, 1 (2008), 1-7.
