{"id":315,"date":"2012-06-12T12:46:25","date_gmt":"2012-06-12T17:46:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/?page_id=315"},"modified":"2012-08-18T13:16:58","modified_gmt":"2012-08-18T18:16:58","slug":"service-to-the-department","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/johnehrke\/service\/service-to-the-department\/","title":{"rendered":"Service to the Department"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I genuinely enjoy my department and the wonderful colleagues I get a chance to work with on a daily basis. \u00a0I consider it an honor to be asked to serve the department in any capacity. \u00a0The following is a list of duties I have performed at the department&#8217;s request.<\/p>\n<h1>Service to the Department<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Faculty advisor for Mu Sigma, a math club created with the aim of securing membership in the math honor society, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pme-math.org\/\">Pi Mu Epsilon<\/a>. \u00a0(2007 &#8211; 2010)<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Organized an after school tutoring program that earned a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acuoptimist.com\/2007\/11\/math-club-aims-to-make-math-fun-serves-local-kids\/\">write up in the Optimist<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Created and maintain the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/mu_sigma\/\">Mu Sigma blog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Presided over meetings and gatherings of club members.<\/li>\n<li>Worked with SA and club officers to plan budgets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Served as a moderator for the ACU hosted 2009 TORUS (Texas Oklahoma Regional Undergraduate Symposium) conference meeting.<\/li>\n<li>Served as a department representative and\u00a0liaison to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ivars_Peterson\">Dr. Ivars Peterson<\/a>, a principal speaker at the ACU hosted 2010 Texas Section of the MAA conference. In addition, I helped moderate, facilitate the event and was the department representative at the student breakfast.<\/li>\n<li>Served as the library liaison for the department.
