University Committees<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty Senate (2022\u20132025)<\/strong>
I have just been elected to represent the College of Biblical Studies in the Faculty Senate, beginning in August 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Member of the IRB<\/strong> (2021\u2013present)<\/strong>
I am currently serving a five-year term on the IRB, and I assist with expedited reviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research Council (2017\u20132020)
<\/strong>I served on the University Research Council for three years. I enjoyed learning about the many worthy and fascinating projects my colleagues across the university are doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty representative on the Academic Quality & Innovation Committee (2018\u20132019)<\/strong>
I was selected by the faculty senate to represent the faculty for one year on the Academic Quality and Innovation Committee, which is comprised of an equal number of faculty, administrators, and members of the Board of Trustees. I appreciate the effort at shared governance that this committee represents, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, if only for a short duration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chapel Sponsorship & Speaking<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Break-out Chapels<\/strong>
Although I mainly teach graduate students, I have been involved in several undergraduate chapels over the last few years. I have been honored to be invited to speak to several breakout chapels: Honors program, History Department, the University Church College group, and Missions.

I am the faculty sponsor for Orthodox Christian Chapel, which has been co-led by an ACU undergraduate student and Fr. Philip LeMasters, priest of St. Luke’s Orthodox Christian Church and professor of ethics at McMurry. Though I am not Eastern Orthodox, my own faith has been deepened by learning about the Eastern Christian tradition, reading ancient and modern Orthodox theology, and befriending faithful Christians from Eastern Europe and the Middle East. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graduate Chapel
<\/strong>I have been a regular attendee at Graduate Chapel on Wednesdays, and I served as the chair of a GST committee that reviewed Graduate Chapel. In 2019-2020, my faculty committee decided to make Grad Chapel a monthly rather than weekly gathering as we reviewed Graduate Chapel. In response to GST students who were dismayed that chapel was less frequent, I organized weekly events during the spring of 2020 until the pandemic disrupted face-to-face gatherings.

In the spring of 2021, my committee made recommendations for how to revitalize Graduate Chapel, which included hiring a GST student as a part-time chaplain. I served as a mentor and field education supervisor for our first student chaplain. There are more adjustments that should be made over time, but I was encouraged by the increased and regular participation of MFT students and faculty in addition to GST students and faculty last year.

I have also preached in Grad Chapel on occasion. (Here’s a transcript<\/a> of my sermon in the spring of 2017, courtesy of the Siburt Institute for Church Ministry.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n
