ACU Press recently published Midland A to Z, a project made possible by the support of the Permian Basin Area Foundation and the Midland Rotary. The book takes readers on a tour through the Tall City, showcasing special people, places, and things that Midland has to offer

ACU Press held the first launch event for Midland A to Z on 27, at Emerson Elementary Midland. They were joined by the Rotary Club of Midland, who is working to distribute copies of the book to every third grader in Midland ISD (over 2,400 books). Other book launch events that weekend were held at Trinity School, the George W. Bush Childhood Home, and the Centennial Library.

“I’m glad that ACU Press can be involved in promoting literacy among kids in West Texas,” said Jason Fikes, the Director of ACU Press. “We’re also grateful for the support of the Permian Basin Area Foundation and the Midland Rotary that has made all of this possible.”

The authors, Jimmy Patterson and Karen J. Patterson, are well known in Midland. Jimmy is an award-winning journalist and now the author of multiple books, including A History of Character: The Story of Midland. Karen, Jimmy’s wife, is a professional photographer who, after a twenty-year career in the federal court system, studied photography at Midland College and started her own photography business.

Midland A to Z is available for purchase at www.acupressbooks.com, Amazon, and local booksellers in Midland.
