On October 11, 2018, the ACU Scholars Lab hosted an inaugural Faculty Publication Celebration in conjunction with the grand opening of the Scholars Lab space. Faculty that had published scholarly or artistic works within the last school year were honored at the celebration. The event began at 4:00pm with faculty and staff congregating on the third floor of the library in front of the Scholars Lab entrance. Seven books were published by faculty members within the last year, and copies of each were set out for authors to sign. These copies will be stored in the library’s Special Collections department.

Dr. John Weaver, Dean of the Library, began the presentation by saying a few words to kick off the event, and express gratitude for the work and research that our faculty members are producing. Avery Weems, Director of the Scholars Lab, introduced the new space and invited everyone to take a tour inside after the presentation was completed. Dr. Robert Rhodes, ACU Provost, attended the event and spoke about the importance of recognizing and celebrating faculty publications and achievements. Dr. Mark Hamilton, professor in the Graduate School of Theology, was invited to speak about his newly published book,  Meditations for the Lone Traveler: The Life of Faith in a Changing World.

In the 2017-2018 school year, ACU faculty published more than 300 intellectual works and over 75 artistic contributions. All the citations of these published works have been compiled into a Faculty Publication Celebration Catalog, which can be found online in ACU’s digital repository here.
