This spring, the Maker Lab purchased a press that enables students, faculty and staff to make woodcut prints and movable type projects.  The press was put to the test when Maker Lab student workers made posters advertising Maker Fest, an event hosted by the Maker Lab in April.

At the request of makers, a printmaking area will be installed this summer.  Darren Wilson, Director of the Maker Lab, shares, “The area will include type cases, print trays, fixtures, work tables, and drying spaces.  In addition, we are working with Skyline Type Foundry of Arizona to locate and purchase old type cases; we just acquired a 48pt Stymie Black, a case used in the early 20th century by the Silverton Standard newspaper in Silverton, Colorado.”
