Samuel “Sam” Lopez is a junior engineering major from Abilene, Texas who works in the Maker Lab helping students with their creative projects and all things do it yourself (DIY) and mechanical.

Sam recalls, “From an early age I could be found assembling and reassembling television remotes and radios learning how they worked.  The curiosity inspired me, and now I can repair almost anything.”

Sam began his work in the Maker Lab with an internship during highschool and has seen first hand the result of a remodeled space.  He shares, “ My favorite space in the Maker Lab is the woodshop area, where I can woodwork and make signs, furniture, puzzles, and games.  Being a “Maker” allows me opportunities to work on DIY art projects, problem solve, and experience something new to do every day.
