Students in <\/span>Dr. Mikee Delony’s<\/b> ENG240 course recently utilized the <\/span>Maker Lab<\/span><\/a> to make Harry Potter wands. They started out with chopsticks and hot glue and ended up with a one-of-a-kind treasure. <\/span>Delony teaches both undergraduate and graduate classes, focusing on world and medieval literature. She shares, \u201cI planned the wand-making workshop as a way for students to engage in a course-related project that fostered individual creativity, group collaboration, and class collegiality. Darren\u2019s enthusiasm and innovative ideas for project materials far surpassed my expectations!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

“This project is a great example of a professor trying something new to get her students even further engaged. It\u2019s a joy to work with students who come in with a passion and a plan,” commented Maker Lab Director, <\/span>Darren Wilson<\/b>. “In just a few hours, they created a one-of-a-kind piece of art from a chopstick. Even better, in the two weeks since this class, I’ve seen several of those students come back to work on their own projects.”<\/span><\/p>\n
