In an effort to keep the spirit of Maker Fest alive, however, Maker Lab launched the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/makerlab.online\/virtualmakerfest\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2020 Virtual Maker Fest<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that will take place from April 16 to April 30.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maker Lab mailed out packets of materials to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and prospective students who registered for the free diy leather journal project.\u00a0 Registration filled up quickly and exceeded Maker Lab expectations.\u200b \u201cWe originally planned for 100 entries, but that sold out in just a few hours. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acu.edu\/admissions-aid\/undergraduate\/admissions.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ACU Admissions<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> partnered with us and provided projects for over 40 prospective students. In all, there are 250 participants who will make their own projects from home and share the results online,\u201d says Darren Wilson, Maker Lab Director.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Of those participating, 50% are current ACU students, 26% are faculty and staff, 6% are alumni and 18% are prospective ACU students.\u00a0 Maker Lab conducts Zoom meet-ups every weekday at noon, answering questions and talking about design options.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To view photos and video uploaded by participants, search #acumakerlab on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Due to COVID-19, the Maker Lab canceled its annual Maker Fest gathering &#8212; a community showcase event of discussions, activities, and inspiration.
