{"id":1682,"date":"2020-09-16T14:47:55","date_gmt":"2020-09-16T19:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/library\/?p=1682"},"modified":"2020-09-16T14:56:03","modified_gmt":"2020-09-16T19:56:03","slug":"brown-library-partners-with-acus-art-and-design-department-student-government-association-and-college-of-business-administration-to-host-summit-2020-art-exhibit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/library\/2020\/09\/16\/brown-library-partners-with-acus-art-and-design-department-student-government-association-and-college-of-business-administration-to-host-summit-2020-art-exhibit\/","title":{"rendered":"Brown Library partners with ACU\u2019s Art and Design Department, Student Government Association, and College of Business Administration to host Summit 2020 art exhibit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1684 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.acu.edu\/library\/files\/2020\/09\/IMG_2553-300x182.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"182\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To prompt Christian insights on immigration and to coincide with an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acusummit.org\/peacemaking-on-the-southern-border\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ACU Summit pathway on \u201cPeacemaking on the Southern Border<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">,\u201d the Brown Library is partnering with the ACU <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acu.edu\/on-campus\/undergraduate\/college-of-arts-and-sciences\/art-and-design.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Art and Design Department<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/acusga.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Student Government Association<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acu.edu\/on-campus\/undergraduate\/college-of-business-administration.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">College of Business Administration<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to host an exhibit on immigration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tom Kiefer\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tomkiefer.com\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">El Sue\u00f1o Americano &#8211; The American Dream<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> consists of examples and photographs of immigrant artifacts. Kiefer is a graphic artist whose work has been highlighted in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New York Time<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">s, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Los Angeles Times<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and on National Public Radio and elsewhere. Also on display is a sample of the US-Mexico border wall gifted by the US Border Patrol.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One of the pathway organizers, business professor Monty Lynn, shared that \u201cWe wanted to personalize the immigration journey that our superb Summit speakers are describing, and art was the answer. Seeing shoes and Bibles and personal items and feeling the steel wall prompt us to remember the immigrants these items represent and to reflect on Christian responses.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The art is on exhibit from September 20 to October 20 across from the circulation desk.
