On Oct. 1 James Wiser, Dean of Educational Technology and Library Services, announced <\/span>Distance & Online Library Services <\/span><\/a>\u00a0as a new library department.\u00a0 <\/span>Dr. Melissa (Johnson \u201994) Atkinson <\/b>[left image<\/em>] will serve as its director and<\/span> Avery Weems (\u201913)<\/b> [right image<\/em>] will serve the role of <\/span>\u00a0Distance & Online Services Librarian.\u00a0 Dr. Atkinson shares, \u201cThis department will continue to offer <\/span>research and library service assistance<\/span><\/a> to students in online programs and it will also seek new and innovative ways to serve them.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Weems provides experience in the free citation management program, Zotero, and hosted a <\/span>webinar on how to use Zotero <\/span><\/a>in November. Her online undergraduate library support and electronic delivery of materials will also benefit the new department.\u00a0 Dr. Atkinson\u2019s areas of emphasis include doctoral research help, narrowing topics and searches, and locating open-access or library subscribed resources for courses. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
