Dr. Gorman will discuss the book, which explores the ways that the earliest leaders of the Stone Campbell Movement were experienced participants in a transatlantic missionary network that utilized interdenominational cooperation based upon the primitive gospel. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Join us from 11:30 a.m. &#8211; 1:00 p.m. at the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acu.edu\/community\/offices\/academic\/adams-center\/about.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Adams Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for a talk titled, \u201cFive Reasons Historians Have Portrayed the Stone-Campbell Movement as Uniquely American&#8230;and Why That\u2019s Wrong.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gorman will also speak from 4-5:30 p.m. at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acu.edu\/about\/chapel.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chapel on the Hill<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for, \u201c\u2018This Revival Cut the Bonds of Many Poor Slaves\u2019: Evangelical Revivalism, Race Relations, and Christian Unity in the Early National Era.\u201d A reception will follow. His research interests include the history of the Stone-Campbell movement, science and religion, history of Bible interpretation and history of religion and race relations.
