Global Collaborations

I include this research area because it is of particular interest in promoting the development of collaborations in international settings.  Since the initiation of the Global IT Leadership program in 2009, I have worked with a graduate student from China to develop the core for a relationship management system that can be used to moderate cultural influences in business practice.

I also work with colleagues in a leadership team with members from Canada, India, France, Norway, Copenhagen, New Zealand and the US, in supporting a doctoral scholarship program for students conducting research in MSR and supporting the Research Consortium for New Faculty and Students conducting research in management and spirituality.

I continue developing research with colleagues from India, Manila and Korea, to extend our research on spirituality and submit papers to international conferences.

I also work with researchers in Australia and the US to improve the level of research submitted for publication in MSR conferences and journals.

Please see this partial list of US and international co-researchers and their affiliations:

Timothy Ewest, Houston Baptist University, Houston, Texas, and Princeton University,Princeton, New Jersey. Protege of Dr. David Miller at Princeton University. Works as a reviewer and discussant for AOM submissions.

Lasse Lychnell, Stockholm School of Economics, Stockholm, Sweden. Worked with him to successfully publish in the Special Issue on Innovative Research methods for MSR.

Richard Major, Exemplarity, Professor of Strategy and Transformation, Institut de Gestion Sociale, Paris, France. Worked on the MSR leadership team to build an international AOM membership.  As a result, MSR is one of the most diverse DIG (division/interest groups) in the Academy.

Peter McGhee, Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand. Worked with him to successfully publish in the Special Issue on Innovative Research methods for MSR.

Kent Miller, The Eli Broad Graduate School of Management, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. Worked with him as a reviewer and to successfully publish in the Special Issue on Innovative Research methods for MSR.

Kanti Mohan Saini, Management and Organizations, NL Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research — Mumbai, India.  I have mentored Kanti since the 2012 AOM meeting.  Kanti has been a co-author for several past submissions and for two papers currently scheduled for publication in 2019.  Kanti assists as a reviewer for the MSR dissertation proposal award program of which I am chair.

Leire San-Jose, Universidad del País Vasco UPV/EHU, Bilbao, Spain. Worked with her to successfully publish in the Special Issue on Innovative Research methods for MSR. Leire was a bit apprehensive about presenting at the AOM 2018 conference, but I encouraged her to do so; she did an exceptional job in her presentation, and was excited to continue her research.

Charles Tackney, Handelshojskolen Institut for Tvarkulturel Kommunikation og Ledelse, Frederiksberg, Denmark. Invited Charlie to submit to the AOM conference in 2013. He won a best paper award and has been on fire since that time.  Charlie has worked with me to shape conference programs and is now on the leadership track for MSR.  Charlie also worked with me to review submissions for the special issue and was encouraged to submit his work to the journal.

Benito Teehankee, Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business
De La Salle University — Manila, Philippines.  Ben has been my mentor in promoting Critical Realism as a viable research philosophy for MSR research.  Ben and I have met regularly since the fall of 2017 to revise and resubmit papers on gender and spirituality.  One paper is co-authored by Jozell Brister.

Mary Finney, Emeritus Professor, Ohio University.  I recruited Mary as part of the MSR leadership team.  I mentored Mary as the 2017-2018 MSR Chair.  Mary has been instrumental in maintaining many of the mechanisms I put in place when I held this position, and has communicated the impact on the effectiveness of the interest group.

Although this list does not represent all of the collaborations I share, it is representative of those I have worked with to promote better scholarly activity within the AOM community.
