Getting Started with a Portfolio Blog

Digital portfolios for all ACU students are now available on ACU Blogs. A portfolio blog is a collection of projects and assignments that help demonstrate your personal and academic growth. Individual assignments are often accompanied by reflections that provide context or some interpretation of their importance.

WordPress is an ideal platform for the two-step process of collection and reflection. First, the portfolio blog as a container is “content agnostic,” organizing and showcasing a range of file types and content types easily. Second, the blog format also makes reflections from the student or their peers or professors easy to manage and review.

Whether you’ve ever hosted a blog on WordPress or not, the following steps should help you begin the process of setting up your portfolio blog.

Getting Started

STEP 1: First, if you haven’t already, you’ll need to locate your portfolio blog. You’ll find it by adding your MyACU username to the main blog address: , for example.

STEP 2: If you’re new to WordPress, read through Portfolio Blogs: The Basics to introduce key concepts like posts, pages, and widgets through short video tutorials from

STEP 3: After reviewing the basic features, see Portfolio Blogs: Advanced Tips for introductions to post by email or other easily overlooked tools on ACU Blogs.
